Our Review:

Adam4Adam.com is a fun and colorful gay dating website that helps guys get in touch, whether it be for friendship, chatting online, dating or a steady relationship. It's free to join and create your own profile and you'll soon be taking advantage of a range of great features designed to help you meet new people.

Whilst it takes only a couple of minutes to sign up, activation of your profile can take up to 24 hours, so be prepared to be a little patient after registering. The site has a global reach and you'll see guys from all over the world here. It has a massive membership base too, with thousands of profiles. At the time of this review there were 69,537 online and 5240 profiles registered in New York state alone with 1098 online. Whilst  quite a few profiles have no photos or have been inactive over the last 12 months or more, the number of active profiles more than makes up for this small proportion. Profiles are fairly tame, with no xxx photos on display when you browse. You can upload a primary photo that appears as your main profile picture, in addition to public photos, private and hidden photos too that have to be unlocked by the member. If you're a free member you'll have to put up with ads on profiles pages too.

With reference to search tools, there's a couple of preconfigured one-click searches you can use to find 'who's online' and 'new members'. There's also a username search and an advanced search; with the advanced option you can specify the location in which you're searching (region/country, city), age range, height, weight and other, more personal characteristics. You can also search by what they're looking for (friendship/relationship/no-strings/group no-strings/cam2cam), ethnicity, and sex role. It's also possible to filter results to show only online members, members with photos and sort by last login date, which can be useful to screen out inactive profiles. It's also possible to save searches. Whilst being perfectly adequate, the search tools you find here aren't quite as extensive as on some other sites (e.g. DudesNude.com). 

To connect with other members you can email by either sending a message or a smile, which is essentially an introductory icebreaker to register interest, both of which appear in the recipient's inbox. Emails are sent simply by clicking the appropriate icon on the profile page of the member you want to contact. There's also an external mailbox feature that allows you to forward email to your personal email address and reply by clicking a link within the email. You can also add friends by sending a friend request (requires confirmation from the other member), and create a favorites list. You'll also find a travel feature that you can use to plan a trip (without altering your home location) and meet up with others near the area you are traveling. You can also browse other members' travel plans. If you want to chat in real time, there's also the option of chatting using IM and your webcam if you have one.

Free members get to register, create a profile and upload up to 6 photos. However, profile viewing, contacting other members and access to photos is restricted until you upgrade. Supporters get unrestricted profile and communication access, greater inbox storage and priority photo approval. It's also possible to add 'ProAd' to your membership, which allows you to advertise your own business or service such as massage, personal training, escort, photography, etc. Other members can browse these classifieds on the site, which generates business for you. In terms of value, it's a little restrictive to stick with the free membership for long, so you'll need to upgrade in order to fully participate. The fees are reasonable, especially if you sign up for 3 months. Unfortunately, there isn't the option to sign up for longer, as on many other sites you'll often find a very inexpensive 12 month subscription option. Finally, there's some pretty good technical support, with FAQs and email support on offer. A response to your email is usually fairly prompt (within 24 hours). 

Adam4Adam.com is a great choice for gay dating, whatever you're looking for, thanks to a large membership base and useful and easily navigable features. It's also a good compromise between the tamer end of the gay dating market and the wilder hookup sites.
