Our Review:

At first glace, CaffmosCommunity.com isn't the most beguiling site. Slightly cluttered and extremely orange, it's a place for older gay guys and their fans to meet and chat, and maybe more. It's therefore a niche site, but whilst featuring more mature gay guys, you'll find quite a cross-section, as opposed to sites such as DaddyHunter.com, which specializes in dating for big, hairy and dominant guys who like 'em younger.

It's free to sign up and enjoy most of the features available. Whilst you'll find thousands of profiles on the site, at the time of this review the online presence was low, with just 400 online. These tend to be a motley crew of bearded, suited and rather respectable looking older gentlemen. Most members online were in the chat rooms (300), which is a good place to head in order to get meeting people straight away. Whilst you may find guys looking for a stable relationship, most are into hookups, so be prepared for the site's somewhat salacious edge, which might deter some. The profiles are fairly detailed and you can judge whether a profile is active by checking out the last login date, as quite a few profiles lack photos and are incomplete.

There are really only 3 ways of searching to help guide you. The main search allows you to set criteria according to location, age and distance. Gold members can use the advanced search, which extends these options to include city, keywords, physical characteristics and sexual preferences. You can also save your searches. There are also preconfigured search tabs to bring up new members, who's online and chat users at the click of a button. These can be filtered by age and location. 

To connect with other members you can email or join the live chat rooms. Previously, it was possible to chat in real time using IM, but this feature has now been disabled due to technical problems. There's a good choice of live chat rooms. The Caffmos Plaza features video chat if you have a webcam, and it's a good idea to start off in the lobby as a new member. Despite not having IM, you can still chat in private here, so all is not lost. Other ways of connecting involve creating a buddy list (friends network), rate member photos, posting comments on profiles and setting up travel contacts if you're taking a trip, or are willing to entertain guys heading your way. There's also a directory featuring members advertising for travel partners, accommodation, businesses and classifieds. If you like to disregard the old saying, 'look before you leap', you can click on the 'intimate contact' button on a profile and get straight down to business.

Free members get a good deal, with no basic browsing or messaging restrictions. You can also create buddy lists, browse the directory, access the introductory chat rooms, comment on profiles and more. It's a good idea to pay the small fee to upgrade, as you get the above plus unrestricted access to the chat rooms, you can create private chat rooms, access all public and private photos, get more storage for photos, use advanced search, save searches, get access to xxx adult movies and more. Technical support comes in the form of a detailed FAQs section, including an indispensable 'gay glossary' (what's an 'Abigail', 'Chicken', 'Rice Queen' or 'Muscle Mary'?).

To summarize, CaffmosCommunity.com has a nice feel to it and it's the place to meet mature gents. The chat rooms can be fairly lively and it's well worth considering joining if you're a lover of older gay guys, or vice-versa. Even if you stick with the free membership, you get a pretty good deal, so don't be too put off by the low online membership presence.
