Our Review:

GayParship.com is in direct contrast to those sites that advertise no-strings dating and superficial encounters, as it's one of very few gay dating sites helping gay men and women to find harmonious and stable relationships.

It's free to join GayParship.com. Just make sure that you have a valid email address and enough time to fill in a fairly lengthy registration profile, which will take you at least 15 minutes to do the basics. It's a nice-looking site and a refreshing change to the often salacious content found elsewhere. If you're put off by the raw nature of other gay dating sites and don't just want a hook up, this may be the place for you.

The profiles are very detailed, being based upon psychological principles of relationship compatibility developed by Professor Hugo Schmale at the University of Hamburg. The profile comprises 30 personality characteristics and your responses to these items are compared with other members in order to generate potential partners who balance and complement you. Of course, you don't get to see all of these things on a profile, but they're still fairly detailed, plus, you are also asked to specify the characteristics (both physical, practical and personality) of your potential partner. So, rather than simply browsing profiles based upon location or limited interests, you are matched on a much wider range of characteristics. At the time of this review 625 potential matches were generated, 27 of those having just joined. Because you can't really communicate until you've subscribed, you can more or less guarantee that sites such as this one will feature genuine people looking for love.

In terms of search features, the options are fairly limited, as the website does the searching for you. However, you can track visitors to your profile and profiles you've visited. In addition, you can compile a list of favorite matches and contacts. You can connect by email, send icebreakers to initiate contact and exchange photos too. There's also an iPhone app that you can download in order to browse and communicate when you're on the move. You can also configure the app to send you message alerts when you have new mail, as well as take photos on your mobile device and upload them. There's no live chat, as contact is carefully mediated so as not to rush things so don't expect to meet your match too soon. Do bear this in mind if you're impatient.

There's not really too much point in joining if you don't intend upgrading as you can't communicate with other members, view full profiles or profile photos, which leaves little else. Premium membership allows you to communicate freely, view profiles and manage your account using all of the features at your disposal, including status updates, tracklists and message alerts. It's not the cheapest site to join, but if you're looking for a relationship it's money well spent. There's good technical support too, with detailed FAQs and email assistance, should you need it.

GayParship.com is a breath of fresh air in the world of gay dating. Serious rather than salacious, don't expect to be bombarded with sexually charged content and crude nudity. Those looking for hook ups should go elsewhere. However, their more considered approach makes GayParship.com a winner when it comes to finding you a partner.
