Our Review:

ManJam.com is not a sinister new foodstuff from the people who brought you Soylent Green, but a hot and wild gay dating website for guys who want to meet other guys online and in person. It's a professional-looking site and you can see that plenty of care has been taken to provide you with all the features you need, and more.

One big reason that ManJam.com makes it into our Top 10 is because its membership base exceeds that of many of its competitors. At the time of this review there were 28,431 members registered in the USA alone, 13,046 with photos. Whilst there were only 107 online from the US, the hour was unsociable and you can expect to see many more members online at other times. The photo allowance for profiles is generous; you can upload 1 main photo, 27 secondary and 8 private photos. In addition you can also upload 8 public and 8 private video clips. It's free to sign up and you just need a valid email address. If you do register you are asked to set your location. This means that only members near you will be delivered when browsing, unless you specify otherwise when you search. They manage to fit plenty of personal info into profiles, which are detailed and extensive, covering a basic description of you, your location, hobbies and interests, appearance, lifestyle, sexual preferences and what you're looking for in a date. Your profile also displays your favorite profiles, friends network and more. It's possible to toggle between preview (brief), gallery (very brief) and full profile.

When searching you need to remember to specify the location if you don't just want profile results for your location only. You can choose from preconfigured one-click searches that will bring up 'members who have viewed your profile', 'who you have viewed', 'members online', 'new members', 'hot members' and more. The basic profile search allows you to specify criteria such as age range, gender, sexuality, role, ethnicity, body hair, body type, height, hair color, eye color and a lot more. Unfortunately there isn't a keyword search option, nor is there the possibility of filtering out inactive profiles by preselecting last login dates. However, you can opt to return only those profiles with pictures, or members currently online.

You can connect to other members in a number of ways, email being the default and most common. There aren't really any options for chatting live, so no chat rooms or IM function, though you can send voicemail and video messages to other members. In addition to email, you can connect with others by creating a travel plan, whereby you enter the dates and destinations for your journey and hopefully get to meet guys whilst on your travels. You can also send friend requests to members (which they must approve), add a profile to your favorites list and post text and video comments on profiles.

Free members are limited when messaging  those not in their friends network, but get unrestricted contact with friends. However, as a free member you can receive all messages from other members (but not save them for more than 48 hours), get limited profile viewing of non-friends (preview only), view public profile photos, and place classified ads. This isn't a bad deal for free membership, though the restrictions on messaging are likely to put a dent in your love life. Premium members get unrestricted messaging, 30-day message history and access to all other features and profile photos. In addition, premium members don't have to put up with the ads that crop up on the site. If you join for a year you get a great deal for just $7.91 per month, whereas a single monthly membership will cost you double. Finally, whilst the FAQs section is rather limited and not very helpful, you'll get prompt email support (within 24 hours) should you need it.

ManJam.com is a quality gay dating site with some solid features and a significant membership base. Whilst you get quite a lot as a free member, this won't keep you going for long, so why not take advantage of the really great 12 month subscription package?
